What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy is an evidence-based approach to maximising one’s health potential though individually formulated nutritional and lifestyle changes.

It promotes the benefits of good, wholesome, unprocessed foods for optimal well being, as well as the therapeutic effects of particular foods for specific health conditions.

Nutritional Therapy treats the body as a whole while seeking the root source of health concerns, rather than simply treating the symptoms.

It works on the basis that we are each individual in our make-up and therefore, ‘one size fits all’ models of eating

(often based on outdated research) simply don’t work well for a lot of people.

Nutritional therapy involves your nutritional therapist giving you personalised dietary and nutrition advice based on your current health and diet, in order to alleviate health problems and promote optimal health.

Conditions such as:

  • Low energy / fatigue / constant tiredness

  • Weight management

  • Digestive conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation, diarrhoea and bloating

  • Skin conditions, such as acne, eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis

  • Cardiovascular conditions, such as high cholesterol and blood pressure

  • Hormonal and reproductive issues, such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS), menopause and infertility

  • Mood related conditions, such as stress, anxiety and depression

  • Musculoskeletal conditions such as rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis

  • Frequent colds & infections, including thrush & cystitis

  • Food intolerances and allergies

Children’s health and behavioural issues can all be helped, and in many cases alleviated by simple improvements to the diet, which your nutritional therapist will advise you on and support you in making. The process involves facilitating you in making small, easy, sustainable changes to your diet. It can be difficult to eat healthily, and a nutritionist helps you to do this in an easy, achievable way.

Nutritional therapy is about what you can eat, more than what you can’t. You will be surprised at the differences you can experience from making small improvements to your diet and the many conditions nutritional therapy can help to improve, including losing weight,  increasing energy and improving mood!
